We’re back again with another blog post to help make your keto journey easier by sharing our experiences! This post is going to tackle the essentials needed to create the best cup of bulletproof coffee ever! We’re a little biased, but checkout our keto coffee recipe (truly the best bulletproof coffee recipe on the internet!).
Keto Coffee = Energy
Each morning, most of us walk to our coffee makers like zombies awaking from the dead. We’re looking for that simple pick-me-up to get our busy day started. But what if I told you there was a way to make your coffee next level? What if there was a way to make your coffee more nutrient and energy packed, while enhancing the flavor 100%?
Bulletproof Coffee
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you’re well aware of how popular bulletproof keto coffee has become in both keto and traditional diets. You can find pre-mixed bulletproof coffee drinks at various grocery and convenience stores across the country. The major downside of these pre-mixed bulletproof coffee drinks is usually sugar content and quality of ingredients.
The Bulletproof brand packs most drinks with sugar, but uses high quality ingredients. Then you’ve got other brands (think of the “slimming” wraps…) pushing their powdered version of bulletproof keto coffee with absolutely horrible ingredients, but are lower in carbs.
So, what are you to do? The option with great ingredients is loaded with sugar, and the low carb option has less than stellar ingredients. Make your own, of course! Keto coffee is a very basic recipe that requires only a few ingredients. Keto coffee usually consists of MCT oil, grass fed butter and coffee. Of course, you can add your favorite protein powder and keto friendly sweeteners to jazz up your drink.

MCT Oil
MCT oil comes in both oil and powdered form. The powdered form is much easier to digest than the oil for most people. If you’re new to MCT oil I would highly recommend starting with the powdered version. But if you’re ready to dive into MCT oil, go for the oil version. I’ve linked a great brand (Kiss Me Keto) with got the best bottle out there – it’s got a no mess pump!
Protein Powder
If you want to take your bulletproof coffee to the next level I recommend blending your drink with collagen protein. When blended, collagen protein creates a latte-like texture and can easily mimic your favorite Starbucks latte.
Sweeteners
There are so many great keto-friendly sweeteners options available now compared to when I first started low-carb living back in the late 90s. You’ve got everything from confectioners erythritol and traditional stevia, to various flavors of stevia and granulated erythritol. I prefer vanilla stevia for coffee, but some add confectioners to their blend for more traditional flavor.
Coffee
Coffee is the one bulletproof coffee ingredient that can be easily modified to suit your personal tastes. You can use any unflavored coffee of your choosing to make a nice cup of keto coffee. I recommend Starbucks Pike Place for the perfect keto brew.
What About The Butter?
You’ll definitely want to pick up some grass fed butter from your local grocery store. My preferred brand is Kerry Gold, which can be found at Target, Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club (Sam’c Club size pictured below!).
